What to expect

Some of us at Ruiton CC have never had a Christian upbringing, including our Pastor, and therefore we know first-hand that walking into a church building may seem strange.  It doesn't matter to us who you are, what your beliefs are or where you come from - you will have a warm welcome and we will be happy to see you.

We are people who love God and believe that we are very privileged to have been called by Him to know Him, enjoy Him, worship Him and to live with Him for all eternity. Here at Ruiton, we have a very high and reverent view of God, so when we come to worship the Maker of heaven and earth and the One who has forgiven us of our sins through His Son Jesus Christ, then we do so in the way He has instructed us to in His Word. When it comes to worship, we do not come to entertain, or to emotionally manipulate others and our building does not look like a nightclub, as is now sadly normal practice in some churches. When we come into the presence of a Holy God to worship, we come in spirit and truth with anticipation to hear from Him as His Word is proclaimed.  Our Pastor preaches through books of the Bible and uses expository sermons to teach the church.  In this way the church get to hear what God was saying to His people in the days the letter was written and how He speaks the same to us today in our context.

We are committed to being obedient to the Bible, as that is our authority in all things, including the worship of God. The Bible gives us plenty of caution on how much God cares and desires to be worshipped. When the Bible is our guide and we follow it we can know with certainty that God will be pleased with our worship and we can also know we are not worshipping a god made in our own image.

We unashamedly sing the hymns the church have been singing for centuries along with the Psalms, and also contemporary songs with lyrics of Biblical depth. Congregational singing is where each voice is heard making a glorious sound indeed.  It strengthens and edifies believers as all members encourage one another as we sing together heartily and with reverence.

Therefore let us be grateful for receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, and thus let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.    Hebrews 12:28
